Peraxelpa monstrosa (Tetrigidae)

Peraxelpa monstrosa Sjöstedt, 1931 ( (Tetrigidae, Cladonitinae).A Pygmy grasshopper (or groundhopper) first found at Lyrebird Sanctuary on 7 January 2017. Body length 5.87 mm. The Type Locality is Mt Tambourine (28/10/1912 H. Hacker). Josef Tumbrinck in a 2014 taxonomic review of the subfamily Cladonitinae noted that Peraxelpa monstrosa is the sole species in the genus and it had only ever been found at Mt Tambourine. We have found it at Lyrebird Sanctuary at Springbrook three times.
