Birrima castanea Goding and Froggatt, 1904 (Cicadidae, Cicadettinae, Cicadettini). Common Name: Black Tree-ticker. The genus of two species is endemic to Australia with this species occurring from Cooloola National Park in Queensland south to north of Sydney in New South Wales. Its habitat is in both montane and coastal sub-tropical rainforests and wet sclerophyll forest. They are allied to species of Cicadetta group IX.
