Ogmograptis sp. (Bucculatricidae)

Ogmograptis sp. (Bucculatricidae), one of the Australian "Scribbly Gum Moths". These are tiny leaf or bark mining moths with a wingspan of less than 8 mm and are very rarely seen in nature. The wingspan of this moth is just 7.72 mm. Only a small number have been described in Australia. This 'poor' specimen was a lucky find for us (not the moth) as we noticed it floating dead in a pool of water. Photographing this extremely delicate moth was difficult and possible only by floating in water to prevent damage and too much distortion of its body and wings.
